This past Saturday the world famous Bigfoot 4×4 monster truck team held their annual Open House gala, much to the delight of thousands! What started around 10 years ago as a simple way to say “Thank You!” to the fans by doing a car crush at their shop has grown into a yearly event attended by thousands of people with various activities and even other monster truck teams stopping by. It’s definitely a “bucket list” item if you are a hardcore monster truck fan.
Outside of the full size car crushing action, r/c monster trucks were one of the big attractions as the Trigger King R/C monster truck club held a big race & freestyle. There were two solid axle classes offered – Modified Monster in which you see the modern era vehicles sporting big suspensions and massive brushless power, and Retro which uses 27 turn brushed motors, old style chassis and (non-existent) suspensions to replicate the classic era of monster trucking back in the good ol’ days.
It was an awesome event with record crowds. Big thanks to the Bigfoot monster truck team, the entire Trigger King club for helping out, Evol for making the trek from Kansas City to take part (he debuted his killer Mad Max styled “Fury Road” monster seen below), and to all the attendees. It’s always a great time to show-case r/c for the masses!
Winners were:
Modified Monster Racing: Michael Arndt in Firestone Bigfoot
Modified Monster Freestyle: Jon Schmidt in Punisher
Retro Racing: Bob C. Chandler in Monster Orange #2
Retro Drag Racing: Chris Blank in Monster Orange #4
