Thought I should share a road trip story with you guy's. Big Wil and myself left the Worlds after the money race on Sunday (Oct4 I think) , it was about 3:00am Monday when we were going thru Dallas and my tummy was killing me. I think I had way too many brisket sandwichs Anyway we stopped at a gas station/ convinence store...I went in said hello to the lone counter guy and went straight to the washroom. Big Wil in the meantime had a smoke break outside the van and went in afterwards to get a candy bar...had another cig. and went to the van and couldn't get in cause I had locked it. So he went back into the store and stayed by the front door for a while before deciding to check on me and get the keys. In the meantime the counter guy hit the silent alarm...............Wil go's out to the van and theres a cop following him to the van. He made some small talk and was asking a bunch of questons and Wil was telling him that we were at a RC Dragrace(even showed him our cars) and we were on our way back to Chicago. I finally came out of the restroom feeling a lot better (about 15-20min) and was walking back to the van when I saw two cops and two squad cars blocking the van.......I thought WTF is going on. Before I reached the van one of the cops stopped me and proceeded to ask me a ton of questons, same ones he asked Wil....wanted to make sure our stories matched. He took our license' and kept saying he found it hard to believe we we'r in TX all the way from Chicago for a RC RACE...now keep in mind my van is loaded with our race cars and equiptment but Barney Fife does't believe us. Then he did it................he pissed me off when he asked me if I was married and didn't my wife mind me going across the country to race. I told him I was married and my wife packed my bag..........I asked him if he had a hobby...he didnt respond at first and I asked him again and Barney Fife said he go's hunting......SOOOO I asked him if his wife minded him going on hunting trips.....he didnt answer and looked a little pissed. He wanted proof that we had been in San Antonio for the race....I thought about calling Bill P to confirm our story but it was about 3:45am, Wil showed him his trophy but it did not say Litespeed Dragway or have the dates on it. Then I remembered we had event t-shirts........showed the cops the t-shirts and they finally let us go, it took me me a bit to get going cause I was shivvering so bad, I didnt know it got so cold in the wee hours in TX, we were in t-shirts
