Crawler Canyon Park Visit
The weather around Chicago has not been the best in the past few weeks. Sub-zero temps and this past weekend has dumped a lot of snow on us. So, what do you do when you have a itchy trigger finger? Well I went to a local indoor crawler comp to find out if I could scratch my itch.
I traveled to Crawler Canyon Park outside Joliet, Il to check out the indoor crawler coarse that has been built and hosted by Karl Klein. He sets up a amazing place to crawl every couple weeks in the bays of his shop. If you ever thought you wanted to build a course but just don’t have the room, take a look at what Karl has done! He and some helpers have been slowly adding and expanding the coarse over the year, and the detail is nothing short of amazing. Waterfalls, tunnels, canyons, bridges, caves and trees highlight the 2 trail comps he and Greg put on. They have built some awesome obstacles that put some crawlers into some serious tight spots. They had all ages running. I thought it was great watching the younger generations of RC enthusiasts figuring out their lines and picking paths to get through. It is a great family environment that is still challenging to the most seasoned crawlers. The comps are very laid back. Rules are simple with fun being the more important part. If you are in the area I highly recommend heading out and checking it out for yourself. Check the FaceBook page for schedules and open days and tell them Big Squid sent ya!
