Drone Racing Coming to ESPN
In another move forward on the path to global domination, drone racing will soon be arriving on ESPN. Thanks to the International Drone Racing Association, we will all be watching our favorite hobby continue it’s meteoric rise and take center stage on the world wide leader in sports in the very near future. The international, multi-year deal was announced earlier this month and includes some notable events starting right now in 2016.
The first IDRA event to be showcased by ESPN, the 2016 U.S. National Drone Racing Championships, will crown the coveted title of fastest drone pilot in the United States. The race will be held on Governors Island, New York City, August 5th-7th, offering jaw-dropping views of both lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. The U.S. National Drone Racing Championships will have an enjoyable summer festival atmosphere that racing fans appreciate—family entertainment, a ‘makers’ style drone racing area for kids, state-of-the-art technology, food, drink, and drone vendors. As of now, the races will be streaming live at ESPN.com with a 1-hour broadcast special highlighting the event coming later.
