Event Coverage – St Louis RC Freaks Fall Bash
Last weekend in Fenton Missouri, the St Louis RC Freaks held a large Fall Bash. Their bash consisted of several parts- swap meet, crawling event, open bashing, and a long jump competition. Thanks to some good promotion and splendid weather, the Fall Bash had stellar attendance.
As you can see in the pictures below, a walk around the pits showed a tremendous variety of different rc cars at the event. Every scale and genre of rc vehicle was on hand, from 1/24th scalers up to 1/5th scales, from oval race cars to dedicated dirt dragsters.
The swap meet/sell/trade part of the event went on all day long. There was a small fee to set up a table and we saw lots of deals being made. From complete RTR cars, to vintage specialty parts, there were loads of really cool items for trade/sale at the swap meet.
The venue for the RC Freaks bash had a large rock crawling course with various trails to hold a crawling competition on. There were dozens upon dozens of crawlers/scalers on hand for the comp and everyone looked to have a great time. In the end Dakota Kidd took the 1.9 class while Ross Kerman won the 2.2s.
RC long jumping just keeps on getting more popular, hence the reason the RC Freaks held one at the bash. A bunch of guys got out their trucks/buggies/SCTs and were catching massive air. For this particular event both distance and style were used to determine a winner. After the dust had settled it was Reid Holland who ended up taking home the win.
With a large attendance and everyone leaving with a smile on their face, the RC Freaks Fall Bash was a huge success. It goes to show that bashing is alive and well in the Midwest, as well as the fact that people love to get out and bash with other hobbyists. The RC Freaks plan on holding a large bash the third Sunday of every month.
