EVERYBODY’S SCALIN’ – JUICEBOX HOBBIES!
Hello everyone, sorry for the lack of Everybody’s Scalin’ lately. Over the last 6 months me and my wife have been working on something very special. That’s right, I’m giving up everything and becoming Amish. Ok so, that’s definitely not it, could you imagine me trying to raise a barn, or turning some butter? I can, and it’s not pretty. Nope, we have opened a Hobby shop in our local area of Kentucky!! I have been keeping it quiet for the most part. It’s one of those things you don’t want to go around telling a lot of people about it before its set-in stone. Because if for some reason it doesn’t happen, you won’t look like a jackass.
As most of you know I moved to southern Kentucky over a year ago from Chicago. Leaving all our friends and RC family wasn’t easy. But the transition to a new group of RC family was seamless here in Kentucky. Lots of group crawls and even an Event that is gaining momentum hosted by the Yankabilly RC club. After seeing how far people were having to go for the closest hobby shop, it got me and the wife’s gears turning. Now, I know I can do some crazy things time to time, but my wife was on board with the idea before I was.
After Finding a good location we went to work. My wife handled the paperwork and legal stuff like a wall street lawyer, and I couldn’t be prouder of her! While she was doing that I started working on the shop. I didn’t want a normal shop; I wanted it to be more of a hangout. Whenever someone comes by the Squid Farm, we end up hanging out in my shop, talking RC and having fun. So, I made a big version of my shop at home. With the help from local guys Christian Noel, Bob Hardwick, Jacob Smith, and Scott Polson, we turn an old Pharmacy into a RC FUN ZONE!
Juicebox Hobbies has a mini and 1:10 crawler course, 1:18 oval track for the 1RC Racing cars as well as Mini Zs. We also have work benches, scale garages and a TV that plays Back To The Future as many times as we want. We don’t have a lot of products on hand yet, as time goes, we will have more. It’s not cheap to start up any business, but we have had so much support from the people in the area and all the companies we are working with.
I want to thank Reef RC, RC Everyday, and Nick Barbar for helping me whenever I had questions! You’re my boys, and don’t you forget it! Boss Man Brian, for Letting me take the time to get Juicebox Hobbies up and running. And my family for jumping onboard this new Adventure!
And Last, I want to thank all of you! The years I have spent working with Big Squid have been amazing. Sometimes painful but worth every minute. From all the messages to getting to meet people at events, you are all amazing and I want you all to know how much I appreciate all of Squid Nation!
