Firelands Group – Hobbytown USA Convention 2016
This week the BigSquidRC Bash Crew loaded up and headed towards Lincoln Nebraska for the annual HobbyTown USA National Convention. The convention is held at the Embassy Suits hotel in downtown Lincoln, a city that is also home to HobbyTown USA’s national headquarters. We are extremely honored that the HobbyTown USA folks invite us out every year so that we can take part in the festivities.
One of the highlights of the HobbyTown show is the Firelands Group booth. You see, Firelands products are sold primarily through HobbyTown dealers, so each year at the convention they show off dozens of new products. You probably know Firelands better by names like Helion RC for surface vehicles and Ares for air products, and like previous years, the Firelands booth did not disappoint.
On the surface side of things, Helion was showing off a number of new products. The one that caught our eye the most was their upcoming solid axle off road buggy. The buggy is still quite a ways off, but you can see it below sporting a grey paint job. It has a very realistic look and when we watched them drive it, it had good speed and a lot of suspension travel. Helion was also showing off what looked to be more of a race style 2wd buggy and stadium truck. These are much more racy looking than previous units from Helion and we can’t wait to learn more about them. Also on display were two of their “Select” line vehicles, a truggy and a short course truck. These are already on the market and were designed as true high-end off-road vehicles.
On the air side of things, Ares had a LOT of new products on display. From airplanes, to helicopters, to FPV quads, Ares had plenty of new stuff on display. If you are just getting into FPV racing Ares not only has several race frames, but also all the electronics needed to get up and flying. Ares knows that quad racing is taking off in leaps and bounds so they are helping to push the envelope of technology in that product segment.
Radient is an electronics/accessory line from Firelands and it was also loaded with new products. For the surface crowd they were showing a new line of shock oil and a pair of new chargers. They also had a brand new line of Lithium based batteries that was diverse enough to fit nearly any application.
Take a look at the pictures below to spot all sorts of new products that will be hitting your friendly local HobbyTown USA location in the coming weeks and months. We would like to thank everyone in the Firelands booth for their hospitality and you can hit up This Link to learn more about all of their quality products.
