Losing grip – Dusk or dawn? Hot or cold? Cat or dog?
Check it out! My trx-4 Simba has finally gotten a brother in my SCX10 Akela. Which do you prefer? Cat or canine? Hot or cold. Dusk or dawn? Red or blue? We all have a preference, don’t we? The Lion King or The Jungle Book? So that you don’t have to google it: Akela is the leader of the wolf pack that adopts Mowgli in the Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. A perfect name and theme for a paint job if you ask me. Quite the challenge it was, but well worth it in the end.
If you are reading this and are a long time fan of BigSquid, you will also have noticed that I am still alive. Nothing new there really, has happened before. Three months without columns, for which I am sorry. Maybe you’re not, but if so: in your face, I’m here again! BigSquid wanted the best, but he didn’t make it, so this is what you get: Losing grip! Me, that is.
Me, recently having lost grip of my home country, in favour of Down Under. Moving sucks, there’s no two ways about it. Not least when we’re talking moving between continents. Back home it is dawn, here it is dusk. Hot at home, cold here. See, they can’t build proper houses in Queensland. If it’s 57 degrees outside, it’s also 57 degrees inside. Which is the case right now. I am wearing long johns, trousers, and five layers of clothing (including a down vest and lots of merino wool) on my upper body. Still cold. Toes slightly numb.
Well, as I was saying, moving sucks. No hobby time whatsoever in the past couple of months, no time for my beloved column. Luckily, I am starting to find my feet now, and spare time will soon enter my life again. A little bit has trickled down already, enough for a short column.
So, what will the future hold? That depends a lot on local headquarters. I’m trying to get permission to buy a VS4-10, or maybe something RC4WD, but what with money being thrown all over the place right now (car, bikes, cutlery, school fees, uniforms, the list goes on…) she is a bit reluctant to say the least. I’ll get there. In the meantime, I’ll pester Brian until he sends me the Redcat RDS I know he has laying around.
More on Akela next week, or check out some pics here in the meantime. See ya!
