Losing grip – Even more than I wanted
Happy New year everyone! Did you see the coolest thing to be teased in a long time? Someone filling that IFS shaped hole in reality that I have been going on about for two years now? Two weeks ago i wrote “will someone take the plunge and release an all conquering IFS rock racer? The offspring of a Losi Hammer Rey and an TRX-4? Please?”
Well, I got even more than I asked for. Capo racing is about to release their Baja Ultra4 kit and from the looks of it, it will certainly be an all conquering IFS rock racer. All metal, super scale, an abundance of shocks.
If you’ve checked out their previous models, you’ll know that their kits are the mother of high end kits. All metal, amazing attention to detail, and the price point to go with it. Unfortunately, their homepage is down right now, so I can’t even find any details on their other kits, but have a look on this chassis of their 1/8 JKMAX crawler which should give us a pretty good idea of what to expect.
I expect a price of around a couple of grands. Plenty. It’ll take a lot of lobbying work at home to get one of these to land on my doorstep. I suddenly wish that I was six years older, so that it was my 50th birthday coming up this spring… And keep wishing for one of the mainstream companies to do a 2.2″ IFS.
Well, here’s to dreaming. It’s fun, but doesn’t get me far, does it? What I do hope will get me further is the Harder & Steenbeck Cult of Paint Infinity airbrush that I just got. A beauty that I intend to inaugurate on some wargames terrain this afternoon. Googling of pictures of dragons and squids has already commenced, for the next body. From what I’ve laid my eyes on so far, the Phoenix that I did recently was a breeze in comparison. The picture heading this was a quick try using AI. It’s a start. Pretty intimidating as a painting project, but I’ll keep pushing it! ‘Cause isn’t that part of why we’re all in this hobby?
