Monster Truck Madness – Gorgon, Gorgon, Gone
Hello everyone and Happy Thursday! Hope your holiday season is goin’ great!
I’m so hung up on all the solid axle monster truck stuff that’s always going on that I can be guilty of not paying enough attention to “standard” r/c monster trucks that feature independent suspensions. Hey, most of them make great bashers, but in general they just don’t get my blood pumping like their more scale brethren.
So sometimes I miss the bus when it comes to their releases. That is definitely the case when it comes to the Arrma Gorgon, a rig that I recently got to have a little hands on time with and that I REALLY would like to talk about.
Arrma is well known in the hobby space for creating wicked bashing vehicles- in particular their Kraton, Outcast and Granite monster trucks. All of which are known as some of the best performers in their segment of the hobby, and all offer a lot of value for the dollar.
Heck, I think the Arrma Felony is one of the coolest releases the hobby has ever seen, and it’s an on-road car!
So let’s talk about the Gorgon, which released a few weeks ago.
The 1/10 Arrma Gorgon is a 1/10 monster truck that’s 2WD, has a brushed motor, and an independent suspension. OK, no big deal, right?
Well, the Gorgon takes that basic r/c load-out and marries it to a scale full size monster truck appearance by way of a slick looking body that comes in various color options (with matching plastic trim) and a fantastic looking wheels and tire package. The proportions of everything are just spot on to looking like the real thing.
The truck has full ball bearings, a solid driveline and comes Ready-To-Run at either $139 (no battery/charger) or $169 (battery/charger included).
That is OUTSTANDING value, folks.
The Gorgon is an easy recommendation for someone wanting to test out the waters of r/c monster trucking. No, it’s not a white-knuckle thrill machine, but it is a damn good beginner vehicle that looks awesome at an incredibly cheap price point.
The truck I got my hands on was a store vehicle at my LHS, but they were all sold out of their initial shipment. As soon as they get their next load in, I’m picking up one of the $139 versions of the truck for the sole purpose of being able to slowly upgrade it here in the Monster Truck Madness blog.
At that price point it’s a VERY easy buy for me.
Kudos to Arrma for releasing what appears to be a VERY solid entry point to the hobby for many folks. I hope you all will find the forthcoming build series interesting!
More on the Gorgon as soon as my hobby shop gets them back in stock.
Until next time, keep it on all 4’s!
