Monster Truck Madness – Happy Holidays Edition

Hey folks, Happy Thursday!

We are about to head into a very long weekend, or at least I am, as I’m going to be off from tonight through January 2nd.

I am soooo looking forward to both the holidays AND time off. It’ll be some much needed time to get behind my work bench!

I’ve got a Tamiya Konghead that’s not going to build itself. I’ve got two Axial SMT10 based monster trucks that desperately need a twin motor kit added to them. I’ve got a Losi Mini LMT that needs customizing.

Ok, I lied on that last one. While I don’t have a Mini LMT yet, I did get to see one in person at my local hobby shop. They look very cool!

They are actually bigger in person than I thought they’d be. I think Losi got the scale right as it’s small enough to be a mini monster truck, but it’s larger than the 1/24-ish mini monster trucks which are too small for my tastes.

I’ve got one on backorder through the Horizon Hobby website, which is estimated to ship in early February. That’s a good timeframe for me, as from what I’m hearing through the grapevine this will be the window in which we start seeing a lot of aftermarket hop-ups come out for it. And for me, that’s going to be a lot of the fun of this small rig- the customization.

So until then, I wait. I’ve got plenty to do in the meantime, though!
