Monster Truck Madness- Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving all!
I’m writing the Thursday Monster Truck Madness from the kitchen this week. The stuffing is in the oven and cranberry sauce is made and sitting in the fridge, so my two responsibilities for the day are done!
I’ve gotten big into building 1:25 scale models recently (I will talk about this next week, it’s monster truck related!) and knowing I’d have a few days of free time to build over the holiday weekend, yesterday I headed into one of my local hobby shops to pick up some paint to make sure I wouldn’t run out mid-project.
Well, the shop had a kit in stock that surprised me and I wound up taking something home with me that I did NOT expect- a Tamiya Konghead 6×6.
Yeah, I’ve wanted one of these things for a good long while but never really enough to hit the “add to cart” button. In seeing that big honkin’ Tamiya monster semi truck box, my mind immediately said “if that kit is around $200 dollars, I’m buying it” (I actually wasn’t aware of what they retailed for these days). When I saw the $200 price tag, I couldn’t resist.
The downside is the hobby shop didn’t have bearings in stock, so I had to order a set. That means that unfortunately I can’t build the truck this weekend while I have a bunch of free time. Oh well, the truck will be a fun project to do over the winter.
I’m not sure what kind of paint to put on the Konghead. It’ll probably either be a red version of the box art or a Rotten Apple scheme. We will see what I’m feelin’ whenever the paint gets laid down.
Alright folks, that’s it for me this week. Time to eat some food and then get to building some static models. I hope those of you that have a long holiday weekend get in some good hobby time!
Happy Thanksgiving!
