Monster Truck Madness – Trigger King RC Turns 10
Hello everyone and a Happy Thursday to ya!
We’ve been working on the schedule for the upcoming Trigger King R/C monster truck racing season and here it is!
This year Trigger King turns 10 years old. We’ve come a long way from our first event back in 2014, and we hope you’ll come out and race with us sometime this year!
We race on dirt at JB Scale Graphics Raceway in Waterloo, IL, which is just outside St. Louis, MO. We don’t publicly post the address as it’s on private land, but if you e-mail me at doug@bigsquidrc.com or shoot us a FB messenger message, I’ll happily shoot it over to you.
The highlight of the schedule is the annual BIGFOOT 4×4 Open House that takes place in Pacific, MO on Saturday June 15th. I’ll post more info about that event as details emerge around it in regards to the full size monster truck festivities that will be taking place.
We will be racing the three usual classes at all Trigger King Events this year. Outlaw Retro Clod Buster, Sport Modified, and Pro Modified. Full rules can be found on the TK website here.
Some folks have asked me about this so I figure I would briefly discuss- as of right now we have no plans to race the 1/18 Losi Mini LMT’s this year. If the platform proves to become popular and enough racers want to explore the idea, we will discuss it next off-season.
Our race days typically start around 9AM for registration and we try and start on or as close to 9:30AM as possible to get through everything. We run each class twice on two different course layouts, with timed qualifying and elimination racing each bracket. We then quickly tear down the track to reconfigure it and run a judged Freestyle competition. We usually wrap up the event day by around 4pm, give or take.
