Product Spotlight – Traxxas Drift Wheels And Tires
What really makes a car a “drift” car? Its wheels and tires, pretty simple. To get that sweet drifting slide, you need dedicated shoes for your ride.
The crew over at Traxxas have a full line of drift tires for your car. These come with a standard sized wheel hex that allow them to be used on their 4-Tec 2.0, as well as a plethora of other 1/10th on-road cars. The wheels are available in black chrome, green, or orange, and they all come pre-glued for your convenience. The pre-mounts also come in two different widths, narrow for the front of your car and wide for the rear.

How They Look- The split five-star design of the wheels have a modern and high tech look to them. The “tires” are black and are made from a hard plastic, perfect for drifting applications.
Install Notes- It took us less than 5 minutes to switch out the stock wheels and tires on our 4-Tec 2.0 over to the Traxxas drift tires. The process only involves removing and replacing four wheel nuts, thus making this one of the easiest mods we can think of for the 4-Tec 2.0.
Durability- We bashed the drift tires over all sorts of different rough areas and we jumped them off of curbs. Speaking of curbs, we slammed a few of those as well and we found the units held up fine. The hard plastic tires did show a lot of wear at the end of testing, although probably less than we were expecting.
Final Verdict- We are big fans of the Traxxas Drift Tires. They were easy to install and made a huge difference when driving. Once mounted to our VXL powered 4-Tec 2.0, we could easily control wide sliding arcs, or go for an inside line. We drove the tires on a number of different on-road surfaces like rough concrete, polished concrete, fresh asphalt, worn down asphalt, and ozite carpet, just to name a few. We found them to be a nice mix of slip and grip, giving enough grip to easily build speed, while still being loose enough to breakaway instantly at corner entry. Our test car was also equipped with Traxxas Stability Management. When we added TSM into the mix, we looked like full-on drifting rock stars! The drift tires, combined with TSM, allowed us to look like pros, even when most of our test drivers were new to the drift scene. The stock rubber tires on our 4-Tec could drift, but were hard to do so with, now with the harder Traxxas drift tires, we can slide our 4-Tec around all day long in a much more controllable manner. We are big fans of the Traxxas drift tires, buy a set and enjoy some on-road bashing!
