For Bashers, By Bashers!

The Backyard – Lotta Stuff Going On

Hello everyone and Happy Friday!

It’s been a busy week of r/c stuff! Yesterday we posted our review of the CEN Racing 1/10 Sicario 4WD DL Series Dually RTR, which was the result of around a week’s worth of bashing. I think it was probably the most filthy I’ve ever had a truck post-shakedown! I had to spend almost as much time cleaning caked mud off my work bench as the truck! Totally worth it though.

That’s the first CEN Racing product I’ve had my hands on in oh, probably 5 years or so, and I was impressed with the quality. They’ve upped their game considerably.

Looking around online, it seems CEN Racing is going full press with a marketing blitz for the truck as holiday shopping is about to start heating up. It’s a nice platform and a cool truck, so I think they are probably pretty wise to get behind it. They aren’t the only ones to start pressing hobbyists for their holiday dollars this week, though!

Traxxas announced the BIGFOOT 4×4 BL-2S, and man is it sharp! THAT is how you use the BIGFOOT license to refresh current platforms. The body looks stunning, replicating the classic early 90’s BIGFOOT #8 racer stripe scheme (clipless, too!), and the white wheels complete the vibe.

I am looking forward to getting one of these for my collection, and as a lifelong BIGFOOT fan I can’t wait to display it! Methinks Traxxas will sell a lot of them, as the price is right for a great looking and running bash truck!

Yeah, I hope they do a solid axle BIGFOOT as much as anyone, but if they aren’t going to do that, I hope they continue making solid use of the license. An X-Maxx BIGFOOT would be very cool, as would a TRX-4 High Trail/BIGFOOT #1!

Let’s talk about the clipless body mounts for a moment, as I think it’s pertinent given the Sicario and BL-2S announcements. The Sicario is a very sharp rig whose looks are slightly marred by using standard body posts. You see it in contrast with the clean lines of the Traxxas, and it’s just another example of why clipless body systems are the future of r/c. As more models continue to go clipless, it makes body posts look extra visible!

As the holiday season descends upon us next week, let’s hope for another couple of big r/c releases to come our way! I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving next week!

Until next time, keep it on all 4’s!
