THE Cub Report- 01.09.2012- Version: Send The Pain Below
Oh yes it is, yet another salacious edition of your favorite weekly BS session- THE Cub Report.
And yes, it’s Supercross time again, prepare to suffer through months of my relentless ramblings on the most uber of off road series- AMA/Feld Supercross.
January 1st rings in the new year. Then Red Bull pulls off something crazy out west. Then the Dakar rally hits the trails of some far away continent. Then… about a week into the new year Supercross blasts off in Anaheim California. It’s just the order of things, simply how a new year gets off to a proper start in my eyes.
Traxxas, the fastest name in radio control was all over A1 (the first Supercross of the year in Anaheim) Saturday night. Traxxas had their uber XO-1 ad playing live on SpeedTV, they had great name placement on the winners podium backdrop, and they got some love when Pro Circuit/Monster/Kawi/Traxxas rider Tyla Rattray made the podium in the Lites division. Once again huge props to Traxxas for cut’n the huge checks and being a sponsor of Mitch Paytons Lites team, and for exposing our hobby to the masses that watch Supercross.
Rockstar/Suzi//Losi also got some love when their Lites rider Jason Anderson put in a great main to finish up in 7th spot (right behind PC/Kawi/Traxxas rider Deeno “The Rage’n Canadian/Scot’man/American” Wilson). Horizon/Losi is sponsoring the same team in Lites SX as they did last year, great to see it, and more huge props to yet another rc company helping to get our hobby exposure to the mainstream.
Jeff Alessi is a big name in motocross/supercross and he’s also a big fan of rc. Last night before one of the gate drops Jeff got some major tv time for him, his team, and the uber new JT Racing motocross gear his team wears. Back in the day JT Racing was the most uber stuff you could be seen wearing on an mx track, then they faded out of the moto scene and into paintball, but now they are back on two wheels like they should be. Their new line-up of gear looks decidedly retro, which I really like, and I can’t wait to get my hands on as much new JT Racing gear as possible.
In rc news… who would have thought Adam Drake would be running Pro Line tires this year? That’s pretty huge news, props to The Drake and Pro Line for coming together, should be a great year for both of them.
Word is the new Traxxas XO-1, the new Axial EXO, and the new HPI Apache’s are all shipping at the end of January, talk about the hottest releases of the new year all landing at the same time. Hope you guys stuck away your X-mas money because early Feb is gonna be a hard one on your bank account for sure.
Seems last weeks Cub Report got the phone lines and emails boxes a good workout, which sucks for Brian, but is great for hits and controversy in general. I was only saying what needed to be said, if it ruffled a few feathers out of the left coast so be it.
Hey! We’ve got more stuff to give away, this time from the crew over at STRC. You know ST Racing Concepts, the guys that make the uber aluminum hop-up parts for every car/truck worth owning. Look for full info on how to win these parts in the very near future. More free stuff from BigSquid, awwww yes it’s gonna be a great year to be a BigSquid reader. 🙂
Winter Chicago Bash? I hear rumor that the BSRC Bash Crew is lining up a venue to beat some trucks into submission very soon. Maybe meet up at a track on the Indiana side for a good ole’ school bash session? See if we can jump a Traxxas XO-1 into the rafters? 🙂 Look for info on this one real soon…
That’s it for this week, thanks for reading BigSquid, and support your local hobby shops, tracks and bash spots!
