THE Cub Report – Boss Mode
Well hello there, welcome to this week’s Cub Report. I pretty much have zero on my mind, so this CR is probably going to be all over the place. Let’s begin, shall we?
The Toy Fair in Nuremburg kicks off in just 2 days. In our industry, the Nuremburg Toy Fair used to be huge, now days it has shrunk a bit, as all our industry has, but still, expect some pretty big news to be announced later in the week. About 5 years ago the Nuremburg show would give us weeks worth of new products to post about, this year we are hoping for a half dozen decent sized announcements. A lot of companies are staying home to save cash, but there will still be some big hitters like Traxxas, Tamiya, etc, at the show. Also, we will have a man on the ground at Nuremburg, for those of you with a booth, get with Brian about having our guy stop by your booth.
The BigSquidRC/STL RC Freaks scale crawling event is scheduled for April 7th in Crystal City, Missouri. Crystal City is about 20 minutes south of the St. Louis metro area just off of I-55 and we are holding our event at a totally epic venue, a place called Crystal City Underground. Crystal City Underground is a former mining location right next to the Mississippi River with hundreds of acres underground. It also has a large underground lake which is pretty cool to see. We will be holding the trail run and most of the events just outside in a wooded area, but we are also expecting to hold one special stage inside the cave. We are working on a flyer now, but go ahead and pencil the date in as it is a lock. Oh ya, and I guess just like the previous paragraph, if you are interesting in sponsoring the event, shoot Brian an email.
How about that Team Associated Trophy Rat? Ya. interesting. But seriously, a lot of people are into rat rods, plus a lot of people are into off-road. I just don’t know how many people are into off-roading their rat rods. LOL. The Trophy Rat looks like an interesting car. It is cool seeing Thunder Tiger/AE taking a chance on a rig like that, but for the life of me, I just don’t get it. I mean, I dig its distressed body. I dig its wheels and tires. What I don’t dig is the end result. Maybe I am just getting old, or maybe I am just out of the off-road rat rod scene (which I totally am), but if I really need to blatantly say what needs to be said out loud (again), what people would rather have seen from AE is a ridiculously scale 1/10th off-road buggy. Like rear trailing arms, lifelike window netting, real beadlock wheels, ya know, basically a modern true-scale version of the old Jay Halsey ad. That’s what people want from AE, not some sort of Mad Max machine (well, that and more Racing oriented cars).
I have certainly jabbered on enough by now haven’t I? I think so too, with that said, get out and support your local hobby shops and bash spots when ya can.
