THE Retired Report – Call To Arms

Well hello there fellow rc fanatics, I’m Cubby, and I thought I was retired! If I’m so retired, what in the world I am still doing here?

I am “working” today because I love the rc hobby. I consider the hobby of rc cars, as far and away the #1 hobby for any guy. Why’s that? RC gives you so much, with very little cash expenditure. For less than a grand, it’s easy to get a full race/bash/crawling vehicle, and upgrades may cost anywhere from $20 to lets say $200. Compare that cost to racing a full size Miata in SCCA style racing, or a 250F in motocross, or a Maverick X3 MAX X rs Turbo RR, and well, rc is literally a hundred times cheaper.

But wait, there’s more! No matter if you’ve raced motocross, or SCCA, or literally anything else, injuries are a major factor. My journey into rc started while I was healing up from a motocross injury, and since then, I’ve grow to love rc with every fiber of my being. It’s affordable, it’s easy to get into, and the best part, it’s pretty hard to get hurt while getting in some trigger time.

And… I’m finally to my point here.

Folks, you probably don’t know it, but the rc industry is slow right now. Actually slow, isn’t the proper word in this case, SUPER DUPER SLOW might be more accurate.

What’s this mean to you? It means the rc industry needs your support right now. Seriously folks, I know gas is high. I know food prices are straight up insanity. I know housing prices have never been higher. But I also know each and every one of you, needs a way to unwind and relax to put up with those stressors. The best way to put up with those stressors, is to spend a few hours each weekend enjoying a hobby with friends or family.

While most of you do not have access to industry numbers, I do. The numbers are, how do I word this, maybe I’ll just put it as “not pretty”. Your local hobby shops need you right now. While the highs of the Novid-19 years were spectacular in many cases, we all knew what goes up, must come down, and right now, sales are as slow as I’ve seen them in my lifetime.

This weeks’ Retired Report is a call to all you rc’ers to think about your favorite hobby. To get out there and support your favorite hobby the best you can. Some hobby shops are on the verge of closing right now, which is a shame, as we all know that sales will go up again in the future. But for some hobby shops, they might not make it through a couple of slow years.

So please everyone, do yourself, and your local hobby shop a favor, and do not forget about your hobby. Maybe you’ve been putting off buying that new car. Maybe you’ve been putting off fixing up your old rig. Maybe you’ve been holding off on buying upgrades. Right now is the perfect time to get your old rigs up and running, or get a new rig for some fresh excitement, just to help You feel more relaxed. Just please, and I think I’m speaking for a whole lot of peeps in the rc biz right now, please help the people in the rc biz whenever you can, as they work tirelessly to make sure your weekend bash sessions are better than they’ve ever been.

Until next time ya bunch of animals,

YOUR Cub Reporter
